This is a redesign I did for a CD cover for one of my favorite bands, Mastodon. (Whose cover artwork and music is incredible! This was a school project and has no connection to the real band Mastodon.) The brief for this project was pretty simple in that you had to re-design a favorite bands CD.
However the interesting thing was that the materials for the project HAD to be initially handmade / homemade. Since I love to draw when I get the chance, I chose to illustrate in black ink a prehistoric sea creature for my cover art, and subsequently integrate it with some nice typography.
